Attributive modifier

Attributive modifiers should be differentiated from:

  1. Predicative modifiers, which are adjectives positioned as part of the predicate, after a linking verb such as to be, to seem, to appear, etc., and which functions as a subject complement.

  2. Adverbial modifiers, which function as an adverb or adverbial in the sentence.

Attributive modifiers belong to the class of optional modifiers, also known as adjuncts.
